HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER If you are interested in membership please contact:
Active membership in the Tampa Power Squadron is open to anyone 16 years and over who has passed any of the following: USPS Boating Course examination CPS (Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons) Boating Course examination USCGAux Boating Skills and Seamanship or Sailing and Seamanship examination If you have taken the home study or video version of the USPS course, but have not taken the examination, arrangements can be made with our squadron to take the examination. If you are a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary or the Canadian Power Squadron, you have already completed a qualifying course and no exam is required. Be accepted by the Squadron Executive Committee. Family membership is available to a spouse and children (up to age 25) living in the same household as an active member. Individuals under the age of 18 who do not qualify in the above category may join as an apprentice. Members who have passed any of the above examinations may take the member educational courses. ADVANTAGES OF MEMBERSHIP Experienced instructors teach classes in many nautical subjects. Extensive social activities – cruises, luncheons, parties and more! Assist the National Ocean Service with Cooperative Charting. Network with boaters throughout the US via local "Port Captains". Great for route planning and getting local knowledge! Enjoy discounts on many boat insurance policies.
